My submission to Micro Jam 013: Lava

There are fissures near town (red markers) and you need to divert the flow of lava away from the houses (towards the white marker). Once you start the lava flows fast, the time to save the town is limited! 

There is a height map that the lava uses to traverse, you can dig trenches or build barriers to divert the flow of the lava.

  • Move with the arrow keys or WASD
  • Press z to dig a trench (at your current location).
  • Press x to build a barrier (at your current location).

  • I have the full lava flowing and heightmap system in place but I ran out of time when it came to fine-tuning the flowing speed and the different maps I was working on. The lava was initially flowing as soon as you start the level to make it consistent with the game jam limitation but I couldn't fine-tune the difficulty on time. I need want to add more levels and I am planning to revisit the concept for the Lospec jam.
  • Better controls and instructions.
  • Add music and SFX.

Update:

The submitted game only has 3 levels, but the lava flow mechanics were finished and I just worked on a couple more levels after the submission deadline. I will not update the submission until after the voting period ends but this is just a small teaser of the levels to come. Oh, and more tiles!
