Leshachikha: Protector of the forest
A game for Godot Wild jam 70 by team otter-clap.
Story:
In the heart of the ancient forest of Smolensk, where the trees whispered secrets and the streams sang lullabies, lived Leshachikha, the protector spirit of the woodland. She moved silently through the forest, ensuring harmony and balance among its creatures.
In a hidden grove, the essence of the forest's life sat undisturbed for centuries. Her sacred duty was to protect it.
One autumn, a group of greedy men discovered the hidden grove filled with glowing, amber-like sap. They plotted to steal this precious resource, believing it would bring them immense wealth. Under the cover of night, the men sneaked into the grove with sacks and knives and they began to cut into the sacred trees.
From the shadows, Leshachikha commanded the help of brother tree and sister ivy to protect the forest. With brother tree she could trap these greedy humans within dark and twisty corners of the forest. With sister ivy she could set poisonous traps to send the invaders running back where they came from.
Gameplay:
Use Leshachikha's spirit (blue) to protect the forest essence (gold) from invading humans (red) using traps (purple).
Controls:
- Move Leshachikha's spirit with the arrow keys or WASD.
- Transfer into trees and poison traps using Space, X or Enter
- Move trees or traps and press Space, X or Enter again to exit
Scoring:
- You get one point every time you neutralize a human with a trap.
- You lose one point every time a human steals the forest essence (gold).
Notes:
- Humans are represented with a red blob, when they are not nearby an arrow will indicate the direction where they are.
- Humans cannot see you but you cannot move trees or traps when they are around. Make sure to place your traps when there are no humans in sight.
- Humans can walk on grass (green) but not through trees (brown). As a spirit you can traverse anything but when you are playing as a tree or trap you cannot go into grass (green).
- As you neutralize humans, additional humans will join the game and you will need to protect additional groves.
- For the best experience, download the game below and play it on your desktop at a resolution of at least 1920x1080.

Was nice to play! I suppose there's no ending. Had like 100 neutralized. And 90 stolen essence... >=-0 (kinda challenging ((for me)) to play lol)
I absolutely adore the concept, wish there was more to the game. It's still in progresss, soooo time will see <=-?
Artwork is gloomy and miserable, which LO000VE <3 Kudos to Leenad
Aaaand there are some minor stuff is going on, like cut off background (or is it an overlay?), right down at the corner of the map; navigation isn't really smooth, was kinda annoying to deal with lolol; at the beginning of the game, the speed of text (when the lore is dropped) is inconsistent. Like, I had to wait 2 seconds to read the third page??? Which is weird, considering all the other pages were just fine?
Welp, overall nice game but has a lot of work to go through.
4/10
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is definitely work in progress. We had so many ideas we couldn’t fit in given the game jam time contraints (including animated characters sprites, multiple levels and an actual ending). We are a brand new team distributed all over the world and I hope we can keep making progress on this game. Stay tuned!
