Heck Tech
A machine-building sandbox where you must appease the most demanding client: Satan, Lord of Hell itself. Engineer machines to automate the processing of damned souls in this quirky, darkly humorous entry for Gamedev.js Jam 2026 developed in just two weeks.
Controls and How to Play:
- Use your mouse to buy conveyor belt tracks and torture machine stations, then place them in the appropriate places.
- Manage your budged and find the best combinations for maximum pain.
Scoring
Damnation is scored by quantity (# of machines), variety (kinds of machines, and repetition), consistency (follow the 4/4 bars). Here is your score breakdown:
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
| Grade A 80 points | Grade B | Grade C | Grade D | Grade E 0 points |

What's missing:
We had big plans but unfortunately we ran out of time. Here is a peek of what we wanted to do:
- Play your machine. Once the machine is built (the current game) the player could "play it" as in a rythm game. We have all the tech built to detect keystrokes on beat (with a margin of error). The 4 tracks would map to 4 fingers and the different machines require different keystrokes. Maybe we'll get to that in a post-jam update.
- Share your machine. We wanted to use the wavedash API to allow users to upload their machines (effectively, their tracks) and play each other's machines. We also wanted to have leaderboards, but alas.
- Listen to your machine. We wanted to allow users to upgrade machines to get different sounds and pitches. We collected a huge sample library that went unused.

Fun! I love the visuals, the eels and stabby spears are my fav. I got a little addicted to the rhythm of it and unlocking the different foods
I agree! Josep and Tai did incredible work on the rhythm aspect and visuals, had we not ran out of time they would've gone completely wild with things!
